I can remember writing my first song when I was just a teenager.  I had been raised in the Catholic Church and come to know my faith as a Christian primarily through my parents, school, and church.  I knew many things about the church and being Catholic but still had a deep emptiness in knowing personally the one who makes it all real.

I had always gone to church and been active in the Junior Legion of Mary and a variety of liturgical music groups.  I attended Catholic schools from 1st grade on up through senior high school.  Years of faith formation did wonderful things for my intellect and the knowledge of my faith as a Catholic., but I did not know Jesus Christ until I was a junior in high school.  Another student invited me to read some materials about knowing Jesus personally, repenting and turning my life over to Him.   It stirred something within me to seek Him more.  I was introduced to Jesus Christ as my Lord, friend and Savior through the prayers of my friends and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal prayer meeting I began to attend.

Ever since the night of the prayer for the Baptism in the Holy Spirit I have been inspired to write praise and worship songs for the glory of the Lord.  Some of the songs I have written have been used at Eucharistic celebrations and healing services, others work best in concert or at a prayer meetings.  Regardless of where they are used they seem to be anointed and capable of speaking to peoples hearts.  I lay no claim to this ability.  Only Jesus through  the Holy Spirit can touch and change a life.  It is a marvel to me that God chooses to work through songs to minister to people in need.

Since Those first few praise songs I have now written well over 100 songs including an Advent Choral Cantata calls "Love Made Manifest", a series of children songs, mass settings and praise and worship songs.  It is my hop that you can appreciate the good things that God has inspired me to write.  Today I am employed as the band director for the Mankato Area Catholic Schools in Mankato, MN.  I am married and have four children, all teenagers accept the oldest who is in college.

Peace to all.   Tom Bierer.
